Responsible Care® Policy

In accordance with our Mission Statement and corporate goals, Ethyl Corporation will continue to conduct our operations in a manner that protects our employees, neighbors and the environment.

We will meet or exceed the requirements of all laws and regulations pertinent to our operations involving health, safety (including process safety), environmental protection and security.  We are also committed to the principles of pollution prevention, energy conservation and waste minimization.  As a member of the American Chemistry Council and the Canadian Chemical Producers Association, Ethyl commits fully to the Responsible Care® requirements, including the Guiding Principles, designed to enhance the performance of our industry in these areas.  Further, we will maintain a system to continually determine what laws, regulations and other requirements to which we may subscribe, or be subject, and will cooperate with governments and organizations in the development of these.

Ethyl Corporation’s goal of zero HSSE incidents demands that we continue to work with employees, neighbors and other key stakeholders to establish and maintain appropriate goals and objectives in this area.  Input from these stakeholders will be used to evaluate and continuously improve our Responsible Care® Management System performance.

Everyone at Ethyl is responsible for upholding the company’s high HSSE standards at all times.  Ethyl’s senior management will ensure that this policy and relevant legal and Responsible Care® requirements are effectively communicated to employees and other appropriate stakeholders.

We will promote a spirit of openness with our key stakeholders including partners in our supply chain, so that hazards and risks associated with our products, processes and operations are available to them, commensurate with risk, and we will promptly and seriously address stakeholder concerns.

While this is the overarching policy for the company, there exist other policies, such as the Safety Policy and the Environmental Policy, addressing specific HSSE areas by which we will continue to abide.  Further, to assure continued relevance to the scale, nature and impact of our operations, we will review this Policy annually, or whenever a significant change is considered.
